In the trend of the iPod, the iPad, the iPhone and anything with a little i followed by a Capital letter, comes the iTeam.
The Middle Management of Corporate America has gotten a corporate hard-on, delegations galore and the rule of minimum effort has been put into effect. Hooray for Kool-Aid, give thanks for your job and accept and love that your efforts are for the sole benefit of one or two people, because more often than we’d like to admit, that is the case.
Just in case, the above paragraph is part of the advertising copy for you to buy into the iTeam dynamic where your efforts will benefit that small little i that ALWAYS goes in front of the team. By in front, I mean before, first, and leaving the team behind, because that’s apparently what gets you noticed in the workplace.
Work hard, have talent, you’re a professional? We’re not sure if we want you. Now be a two timing douche bag who have a knack for finding the right person for the job, which is NEVER you, and why of course you can have a promotion.
It’s not like this surprises me, it doesn’t. It just bores me to death to see that the same idiotic cycle replicates and that I have Douche Doppelgangers who change their outward appearance but in essence are the exact same type of shit for brains. Why oh why do we keep promoting hacks? Are VPs really that stupid… wait a minute, don’t answer that, since we all know that VPs have been Blackberried to death and can’t carry a thought without asking for permission, letting fevered egos run amok and do what they please, because of course they have everything in order.
And just like everything that starts with an I and is followed by a Capital, these people look the part, aren’t really necessary but can sure sell the hell out of themselves. But you know what? To those supervisors that consistently land in my better off as compost list, there is always the gift that keeps on giving and something they can cherish for the rest of their lives... a little something from me to them, when they get lonely and miss the bunghole of their VP of choice.
